Design Feature: The Valencia Home

The Valencia Home was thoughtfully curated with guidance on furniture selections, scale, and how each piece would work together within the existing home. Rather than designing each area in isolation, the focus was on creating a consistent visual language from one room to the next, resulting in spaces that feel collected, comfortable, and naturally suited to everyday living.

Starting with a Warm Foundation

The home is grounded by an abundance of natural wood, but what makes the design interesting is the variation within it. Light, textural cabinetry sits alongside deeper walnut and brown finishes, allowing the rooms to feel layered rather than perfectly matched.

Larger pieces introduce weight and permanence, while streamlined silhouettes keep the overall look from becoming too heavy. Against the home's light walls and flooring, these warmer finishes give the rooms a sense of richness and make the furniture an integral part of the architecture.

Softening the Living Space

In the living room, a neutral sofa provides a quiet centerpiece. Its curved arms and softened silhouette create an inviting contrast against the more structured wood furniture surrounding it. The coffee table introduces a heavier, grounded form, while exposed-wood accent seating and rounded occasional tables add variation in height and shape.

Instead of relying on a matching furniture set, the room is built through complementary pieces, giving it the feeling of having evolved naturally over time. The result is a living space that feels elevated without sacrificing comfort.

Creating Connection Through Contrast

One of the strongest elements of the Valencia Home is the balance between light and dark. Cream upholstery provides softness, while darker wood frames, tables, and accents give the eye somewhere to land. Lighter wood pieces keep the palette from becoming overly rich, and subtle touches of green introduce another layer without disrupting the home's warmth. Repeating these tones throughout the rooms creates continuity, even as the furniture styles and finishes change.

Making Storage Part of the Design

Some of the home's most striking furniture pieces are also among its most functional. Generously scaled cabinets and consoles provide storage while giving otherwise simple walls architectural presence. Detailed woodwork turns these practical pieces into focal points, while their natural finishes complement the quieter elements surrounding them. Rather than treating storage as something to conceal, the Valencia Home incorporates it as part of the visual story of each room.

A Natural Place to Gather

The dining area continues the home's emphasis on substantial, tactile furniture. A generously proportioned wood table anchors the space, creating a strong transition from the softer living area into a place designed for gathering.

Deep wood dining chairs paired with green upholstery offer a subtle departure from the home's neutral palette. The color feels unexpected but grounded, bringing personality to the room while still relating naturally to the warm woods found throughout the home.

Collected, Considered, and Made to Live In

What makes the Valencia Home feel complete isn't that every piece matches. It's that every piece feels as though it belongs. There is a thoughtful rhythm between substantial and delicate, curved and structured, light and dark. Furniture is given enough space to have presence, while the consistent use of warm woods and soft neutrals allows each room to flow naturally into the next.

Through our Designer Day Pass, the home came together with an intentional approach to choosing pieces that complemented both the space and one another. The Valencia Home is a reminder that a well-designed space doesn't need to be completed all at once. When furniture is chosen slowly and thoughtfully, each piece becomes another layer of a home that feels personal, collected, and made to be lived in.
